Week 928

It's Week 928! We spent the majority of the week at Railsconf, the big annual conference dedicated to Ruby on Rails, the core web framework we use at BNB. Plus some travel and adjustment time on both sides, of course.

We'll do a longer writeup with photos I'm sure, but some highlights:

• A fun kickoff keynote by Nadia Odunayo, founder of The Storygraph
• Technical sessions on ai integrations, performance monitoring, and
• A surprisingly good menu of food for a conference hall
• Fun meals out in Detroit
• An ad hoc drop in with a DTW-based client

But mostly: fun times meeting and hanging out Rails people! We got to meet a few heroes and people whose open source and training work we use every day, and some of the people who support the core technology.

And surprisingly - a realization that BNB is a real leader in this space. As the week progressed, we collectively realized more and more that we could be contributing more publicly to the community. We've got a TON of experience and expertise. I think we've got some thinking ahead of us about how we can better support Rails folk outside of our walls.
